Colorado Energy OfficeColorado Energy Office (CEO) originally hired Niki Jones Agency, Inc. to re-architect and write new copy for their website. We provided a survey to gather information from their 7 departments and conducted roundtables to identify primary barriers to navigation. We then created a content strategy, selected keywords, and optimized 60+ pages of content. Our initial project was so successful that CEO extended our contract to include the design and development of the site. We created 20 custom designs for the client and developed their website in Drupal 10, within the parameters designated by the State’s IT vendor.
Brief of
Design Journey
Colorado Energy Office’s programs, policies, and funding opportunities position them as a national leader in emissions reduction through zero-emission transportation, electrification, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. We leaned into the State’s secondary color palette to design their site, which included vibrant blues and greens that gave CEO’s site the innovative, fresh feeling it deserved. We also developed some unique infographics to showcase key data, like their climate equity principles and current emissions profile.

ICONS
As part of their website redesign, we created a custom suite of icons to help users navigate funding and financing opportunities by user type (resident, business, government, or community organization) as well as by category (electric, geothermal, wind, solar, etc.).
Mobile Design
Our custom “How It Works” graphics are built around stackable tiles, keeping application guidelines simple on every funding page – even on mobile.
