Donation Helps Salvation Army Port Jervis Corps Provide Food to Residents
Port Jervis, NY – Residents effected by the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic fallout will continue to have access to food thanks, in part, to the generosity of New York City-based Vibrations Promotions. Founder Ronald Cohen is thanking five of his closest business contacts for years of collaboration by donating to their local chapters of the Salvation Army on their behalf. The Salvation Army Port Jervis Corps will receive $500 from Cohen on behalf of Niki Jones Agency, a Port Jervis-based marketing firm.
Vibrations Promotions and Niki jones Agency have worked together since 2016. Over those four years, the two companies have forged a mutually beneficial relationship for which Cohen is grateful. Upon seeing photos of people on line at soup kitchens around the New York metropolitan area, Cohen knew how he wanted to say “thank you.”
“My mother always had compassion for people. I inherited it from her,” said Cohen, who founded Vibrations Promotions in 1971. “These are people just like my neighbors. They are my neighbors,” he continued. “It’s a matter of somebody having a lunch.”
The Salvation Army Port Jervis Corps operates a community center at 99 Ball Street. Their soup kitchen serves a free lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The corps also makes food deliveries and runs a by-appointment-only food pantry. Cohen’s donation will be used to continue running the soup kitchen and will also benefit the corps’ Food Box Campaign, in which donations are used to fill a food box for curbside pickup or home delivery.
Donations to the Food Box Campaign can be made by texting “PJ Red Kettle” to 41444 or can be mailed to: P.O. Box 125, Port Jervis, NY, 12771.
